NPR Discusses Soil Microbe Genes

soil food webNPR’s Dan Charles, on All Things Considered/Food For Thought talks to scientists about soil microfauna.  These scientists are focused on understanding and describing the most common ones.
They miss the point.  There are more than a billion different species in a handful of healthy soil.  Finding a small number of “important ones” does not replace the full ecosystem, often referred to as the Soil Food Web, which is what healthy soil and living plants need.
